Crafting from scraps and leftovers!!!

Hello again...  As promised I am back with another card I created...  A little later then I planned but things around here have been crazy with kids, doctors and so much more...  Hopefully now things are moving in the right direction. With that said I have promised myself to post at least 3 times a week on my blog and to spend at least 30 min a day in my craft room... I have this nice craft room and haven't spent that much time in it at all so that needs to change and well it started with today as I spent 30 min. in there today playing with some leftovers left on my table from the last time I was in there and created this little work of art!!!

I'm back with A Tag and A Sketch...

So as I said in my last post that I would start posting on my blog again mid April.. This entire year so far has zoomed right on by... It's been crazy with working, buying a new home, moving and then having health issues...  We are still unpacking a few boxes every weekend but for the most part the house is unpacked and everything is in it's place except for my scraproom.. I still have a sea of boxes on the garage but it's coming together nicely... This past weekend I had a friend over and we did a little scrapping... It felt good inking and gluing again..  With that said here is a little something that I created with some new supplies and my go to stamps from KinderStampO.

Silk Colored Eggs...

Sorry for being MIA on my blog...  It's been a rough couple of months with moving, being sick and some other things going on, but I promise starting mid April I will be back in full swing!!!

This is a repeat post from April 2009...   Every year I get a couple e-mails from friends asking if I would re-post the following blog post because they can't remember how to make the Silk Wrapped colored eggs....   Enjoy!!!

Today was full of eggs.. I colored a dozen eggs using a silk scarf and the little guys and Miranda made rice crispy treat eggs. lol

Here are some photos of my eggs. I just love the way they turned out.

To make eggs like this here are the things you will need...

raw eggs
Silk (silk ties and scarfs are great to use)
cotton sheet
warm water
vinegar
glass or enamal pan

  1. You will need to cut your silk and cotton down to about 5x5 squares
  2. wrap a raw egg in silk with the silky side on the egg & tie ends with a scrap piece of cotton
  3. wrap you silk wrapped egg in cotton and tie ends with a scrap piece of cotton
  4. continue wrapping till all your eggs are wrapped
  5. place all your eggs in a glass or enamel pan
  6. fill your pan with warm water till it covers all your eggs
  7. add 3 tablespoons of vinegar to your pan
  8. boil your eggs for 20 min
  9. once boiled take them out to cool for a few min and then unwrap
  10. You can rub your eggs with a little cooking oil and then wipe with a paper towel for a shiny looking egg.
Things to remember you need to have SILK to do this and the silk needs to be wrapped with the silky shiny side against the egg.

I hope you like the eggs and if you make these please comment with a link to yours.

Steampunk Owl Canvas...

Wow time has really just flown by...  We are packing once again and getting ready to move one last time...  This time into our own house.  We close on our house Jan 17th... eeek 3 more days.  We are so excited and can't wait.  The move down to Texas from Washington was eventful and the little rental house we are in is rather cute, but I am soooo ready for my own house so I can stop overpaying for rent and change anything I want to...hehe  Now that we have been in San Antonio Texas since the end of August we truly love this place and we are so excited to call it our Home State.

Today I am working on some assignments for the rest of Jan and through Feb as I will start packing up my little scrap corner tonight to get it all ready for there "OWN" scraproom again.  Looking forward to having my own scraproom again.  It's been a while ok like 6 months, but all my goodies that have been packed since July I am sooooo looking forward to unpacking them.  I have been lost without all my lovely ribbon, stamps, 12x12 papers and the list goes on...  I know this time when unpacking scrapbook stuff I will find that box with all my adhesives in it.. hehe

I wanted to share a little something I made for myself... It's been awhile since I created something for myself.  Everyone knows that I love owls and love creating owls out of fabric, felt, and now even paper. hehe   This one hangs on my wall at work...

Products used:
6x6 canvas
Pink Paislee "She Art" Pattern Paper
Unity Stamps
Tim Holtz Metal Embellishments
Momenta Metal Photo Corner
Paint
Staz-On Black Ink
Button

Thanks so much for looking and I will be back tomorrow with another project.

Till then.... Happy Crafting.
