It snowed..

Yesterday we had our first snow fall of the season.  Today we are having our first snow day of the season.

When the kids got home yesterday they wanted to play in all the fluffy snow so Miranda grabbed the camera and snapped a few photos.  Which was perfect as I was creating with the We R Memory Keepers Merry January collection for Lila's Scrapbooking and snow photos is what I needed.

Here is my layout and a couple cards.

I added some October afternoon mini alphas as they were the perfect color and a black #1 thicker from American Crafts.  Everything else is We R Memory Keepers Merry January.

I added a flower soft topper and flower soft to the card on the right.  I am just loving flower soft.

Thanks for looking and until next time... Happy Crafting.

Get Sketchy #65

This week at Get Sketchy we were to find something in our home that inspires us and design a card based on that.  Since the holidays are approaching we have been slowly getting our Christmas Decorations up.  This sits on my mantle.  (The tree was published in Simply Handmade Dec/Jan 2009 issue)

I choose to take Gold as my focal color as well as use something that is flowing etc.  So this is the card I came up with.

Products used:
Kraft Cardstock
Gold Metallic alcohol ink
Recollections butterflies on a vine
Vintage lace

Be sure to join in on the fun and post your card and what inspired you for a chance to win a great prize from SRM stickers.  Also if you like sketches Get Sketchy is expanding into page layout sketches and are looking for a design team. click HERE for the info on that.

Thanks for looking and Happy Crafting.

I have been keeping a wee secret....hehe

Yes I have.  I found out a couple weeks ago that I was selected as a New Designer for Get Sketchy Card Challenges.  I am beyond thrilled about this new adventure.  If you know me you know I haven't considered myself a card maker until very recently.  I always loved to make cards but was never really happy with them till I started looking at cards as small little canvases and then something clicked inside my head and I started creating cards with that in mind and Now not only do I enjoy making cards but I actually like the cards I'm creating. LOL

Here is the current sketch for Get Sketchy Card Challenges...

Now if you love sketches like I do I am happy to announce that Get Sketchy is expanding Get Your Sketch On is a new sketch site that is dedicated to scrapbooking layout sketches and is now looking for designers...  Click HERE to read more about it and how to submit.

I will be back tomorrow with my take on the current sketch at Get Sketchy.  If you have time be sure to jump on in and create with the sketch.

A couple new cards...

I recently got a huge box in the mail from Two Peas and couldn't help but dive right in and get creative.  I will be the first to say that I don't order from them a lot but when I do it's because they have something that I'm looking for that I can't find locally or they have an amazing sale that I just can't pass up.  Can you say Prima at 30-50% off.  Plus free shipping on orders over $50 yeah that's not hard to do with a box filled with Prima flowers, bling, pearls and paper.  I created a layout and 2 cards.  I can't show you the layout just yet as It's something I made for a certain company mixing it with some of their Mixed Media products but as soon as I can I will post away.

Ok so on to my cards.  This first card I created I used this weeks sketch at Get Sketchy Card Challenges.

Products used:
Prima Pattern Paper
Kraft Cardstock
Prima flowers
My Minds Eye deco Chipboard

Prima Pearls and gems

Thankful for My Family

When I seen the new Teresa Collins Giving Thanks collection I knew I wanted it to be our November Family Mini.  I don't normally do monthly mini albums but when hubby is deployed that is something that I do.  When it's filled in with photos etc then I ship it to him so he can see what we have been up to what the kids are doing and how things are at home.  It's his little piece of home that comes to him.. Each page is also a pocket that will have letters placed inside them to him from the kids as well as more photos etc.

Products used:
Teresa Collins Giving Thanks Album Covers
Teresa Collins Giving Thanks Collection
Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards
7gypsies tags
Prima Flowers
Morex Ribbon
Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Kaiser Crafts Gems
Little Yellow Bicycle chipboard pieces
MS butterfly punch and boarder punch
Paper Trey Ink buttons
Twine

Thanks for looking and I will be back tomorrow with a couple cards.
