After Christmas Scrapping...

Well the house is clean the tree is down and I got some scrapping done. I got the most amazing box full of the Candy Cane Christmas Collection from Reminisce the other day from winning a challenge on there blog. So I have been playing with that using some Christmas photos. Not quite done with those yet, but I did finish this one for the Reminisce blog challenge for this past week. The challenge was to play with fonts. I used a mixture of rub-ons and stickers from Reminisce. I love rub-ons and these went on like butter. I just couldn't help getting the Girly girl collection by Reminisce from my LSS a few weeks back and it was so inspiring to play with. I just love how the paper has a shimmer to it.

I call this one ABC's and 123's of Cute. Other items on this layout are Tim Holtz Grunge Board, Ranger Stickles and Ribbon from The Embellishment Studio. I plan on using the paper with the hearts for some Valentine cards. I will post some more tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

The wish lists...

are now up on the mantle and I had a great idea for a layout and decided to use Reminisce paper so I can take part in the Reminisce blog challenge. I have just about every collection they have made. I don't know what it is but every time I'm at the LSS and grab a piece of paper it is always Reminisce. Remember how much fun I had with their Halloween line this year. Loads of fun and the Christmas collections sure didn't disappoint either. So the challenge was to do a layout without a photo. Not that easy. Here is what I came up with. Oh and Joshua my 6 year old had to help me decorate the tree. He thinks it's perfect.hehe

Here is a close up of the kids top 5 items on their lists.

I also have a small little toot. I got a great comment on the I am a Scrapaholic blog from Tim Holtz about my Altered Frame and Crackle paint tips and techniques. Lynn the owner of I am a Scrapaholic sent him and e-mail just to make sure it was him and it was. I just thought that was kind of cool that he seen the article and liked it.

Thanks for looking and wish me luck

12 more days...

12 more days till Christmas and I am almost done. Still have a few things to get the teenagers and then I am finished... We are putting the tree up this weekend. The holidays are always rough for me as we are not close to any family. I get homesick...

I am a Scrapaholic now has a blog. It will be full of step by step instructions and tips etc. There are already some great tutorials up and many more to come. So be sure to stop by and let us know what you think. I am a Scrapaholic Blog

Here is my latest layout and I am sure it will cheer anyone up. The photos are from Molly Peckham. Isn't her little girl the cutest.

A mixture of December kits from I am a scrapaholic and The embellishment studio. I used a December sketch from Page Maps. Lots of great sketches. Sorry the scan isn't the greatest. The weather here is dark and wet. Once there is a break in the weather I will be getting a better photo of this outside.

Thanks so much for looking and have a great day.

LA Ink

I am always watching LA Ink. It is so full of creative inspiration. The designs, colors etc. Well my best friend Susan knows how much I love this show that when she was down in LA she went to "high voltage" aka LA Ink and got me some photos... hehe You have no idea how excited I was to get these photos in an e-mail. Susan you totally rock. So I sat down on Thanksgiving day and scrapped to "The Killers" new cd "Sawdust" it's a totally rockin cd. You must check it out.

Lots of fun colors to go along with the photos. I used a lot stuff on this layout but I would like to highlight a few products. The fun stamps from Inque boutique ("check you out" arrow and "future rock star") totally loving all the stamps from them. The most yummy chipboard from Magistical Memories (starry eyed skull and skull rocks key). Lets not leave out the most amazing papers from Creative Imaginations. I have the guitar from Marah Johnson's "rock star collection" and the Signature collection" caution boy and girl papers and rub-ons. Lots of lace some from The embellishment studio and some Hambly rub-on goodness for good measure.

I will post more in the next few days. It's been raining a lot here and it's been very dark so I can't get any good photos inside or outside.

Rub-ons, Caardvarks and cards *Oh my*hehe

While I sit here waiting patiently for my hubby to pull up in the drive way from being away since JULY.... He just called and said about 30 more min. So here I sit. I guess since I have a few things to talk about it would help pass the time.

Caardvarks a wonderful and amazing CARD challenge site had asked me to make up some cards for there Nov. 20th Challenge. Plus The embellishment studio is sponsoring them. So since everyone knows how much I love The embellishement studio I couldn't pass it up. So the challenge is rub-ons. Man that's a great challenge for me as I have a TON of rub-ons. It was a great way to get rid of some older rub-ons and play with some new ones. It was a blast to do and I am still so excited that they asked me to make some cards. Most of you know that until recently I didn't make cards because lets face it. I just didn't get it and couldn't make a decent card for the life of me. One of my friends pointed me in the right directions of my creative self and whoa did the card maker in me bust out.. LOL Ok ok so here are my cards. lol

I hope you like them. Be sure to check out the Caardvarks DT's cards as they are amazing and I hope you will join in on the challenge. You have till November 30th to get it linked on Caardvarks for a chance to win an awesome kit from The embellishment studio.

He's coming home...

Woohoooooooo hubby will be home in a few days. We are all so stinking excited. It is only for a little over a month and then he has to leave again for 3-4 months. ugh but I will take what I can get. So excited that he will be home for the holidays.

So lets get to my previous post. I have some owls to mail. hehe

Nicole, Stacy and Sentimentsbydenise please e-mail me your addy's at elisak12@gmail.com so I can put those owls in the mail.

The excitement at The embellishment studio has been high. Lot's of great things going on over there. Starting with the first ever design team. yup yup my name is on that list. I get to share the duties with a great friend of mine Debbie on the special projects. Mini books, altered art, and playing with those yummy add on kits. The design team has a great mixture of style and personality. Be sure to head on over there and check the list out. Also the gals at the studio love to give things away so all the active members from yesterday till December 16th will be entered into a drawing for a FREE yes FREE January Hodge Podge kit. So be sure to get over there and chat it up with us so you can be entered and hopefully win. hehe Also if you purchase one of there yummy subscriptions you can be entered in more times to win. The November kits are simply amazing. All the info is listed on the message board in the "studio news" section.

So I finally did it. I started an Etsy shop. I have a link listed on my side bar with some photos of what's in my shop right now. Take a look at it and let me know what you think. I may even bring out the quilting stuff. I use to quilt all the time. Love love love to quilt. I figured I would start small and see what happens. So I am testing it on my push pins, altered canvases, and buttons. The buttons will be up in the next few days.

I hope to see you all there.

I love this stuff...

Ranger had me at hello with this yummmmy goodness called "crackle paint". This stuff is simply amazing and the things you can do with it are endless. One of my design team projects at I am A Scrapaholic is to alter the frame in the Therapy kit. I wanted to keep it funky but elegant. hmmmm elegant and funky at the same time. Something a bit different right? lol So here is my project. (click it to make it bigger).

This is my daughter "Miranda" she is such a nature lover and loves animals. When it's nice out you can usually find her under a tree with a book or walking in the woods behind our home. I think this frame for the most part tells a story about my daugther. You can find all these items except for the little owl at I am A Scrapaholic. I will also have step by step instructions and photos along with some tips on using this awesome stuff called "crackle paint" up at I am A Scrapaholic by the end of the week.

So if you are in love with that little owl. Post a comment on my blog and I will RAK 3 of them out. 3 lucky people will get one of these cute crochet owls. If there are a lot of comments I will draw out more...

Sketches...

Sketches are always a great way to help get your inspiration going. You don't have to do the sketch from a to b but take parts here or there or turn it flip it etc. I have seen some amazing layouts come from using a sketch as your base. This week at I am a Scrapaholic Alicia has a totally fun sketch up in the "out behind the camera" series. Along with an amazing theme. You so need to go check it out. Here is my layout that I did with her sketch.

These photos are of my great great grandfather and grandmother and family. My great grandfather is the tuba player. The photos were taken in 1912. The Zahradka family came over from Bohemia in the 1800's. The band would play at special events throughout town and other cities. Music has always been in my family. My mother is an amazing trumpet player and I played the clarinet and saxophone. (I bet yall didn't know that about me.)lol I was pretty good too. Man I need to start playing again. I really do miss that part of music. This summer when visiting my parents my mother took out her trumpet and played it for the kids. They loved it. I can still see Isaiah and Joshua trying to play that thing. It was funny, but they did manage to get out a few notes. Not in tune but they managed to make some noise. I remember trying to play that thing when I was a kid. I always wondered if my mom was a bit sad that I picked to play the clarinet and not the trumpet. I guess that is something to ask her when we talk again later this week. Ok enough of that. hehe Go check out the sketch, scrap it and post it. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

2 page fun

It's been 2 years since I did a 2 page layout. So when one of my DT assignments at I am a Scrapaholic was to do a 2 page layout. I was really excited and to be honest with you a bit worried. hehe It's been way to long and I am sooooooo glad that I got this assignment. It helped me not only get out some old photos to scrap but it was lots of fun.

If you haven't done a 2 page layout in a while like me. I challenge you to do one. Keep an open mind and have fun.

Do you need a challenge?

At I AM A Scrapaholic's new Out From Behind the Camera Challenge Series is designed to help you scrap more about yourself. You may create an album all about you just for you; you may just want to add your layouts to your current albums, or a combination thereof. It’s entirely up to you. The most important thing is to get you into your albums, to celebrate you, and to leave an important legacy for your family. Remember the people you scrap about will also enjoy seeing layouts about you too! Also remember if you don't have a lot of photos about yourself it's ok. I don't have a lot of photos of me either. I have found that using the sketch or a part from the sketch or the theme has helped me make some great pages.

Week by week we will help you with themes, sketches, samples and ideas to help you along the way. You will earn RAKs and discounts along the way.

Each month will focus on a theme.

Each Monday a new challenge will be posted. The challenge will include a topic [subject] and a sketch exclusive to I AM A Scrapaholic for you to use (if you choose), and samples by the Design Team.

You can pick and choose the challenges you wish to complete. Each challenge you complete and upload to the gallery will earn you points. These points will accumulate and will earn you RAKs and discounts. See the Point System thread for details.

You are not obliged to participate every week, and there is no competitive element here, we want to see everyone joining in as much as possible no matter what your scrapping level or schedule.

Each week one of the DT members will choose a layout they love from the previous week to highlight. This person will receive an additional bonus point. A layout maybe chosen based on the overall design, the journaling, the photo, or for whatever reason the DT member chooses. We all have different tastes so it could be anyone and for any reason.

I would love to see some of my friends join me a few challenges. The board at IAAS is amazing and the gallery is full of inspiration. The store is packed full of yummmmmy goodness.

Hope to see ya there.

Rain rain go away...

It has been raining for the past few days and will continue to rain all week and weekend long. It finally let up a bit today and I was able to take a few pictures of some cards as I promised I would post. I have been playing with the new Studio Classic K Margo collection and I'm loving it. I always love the distressed look so adding the Tim Holtz crackle paint, embossing powder and ink really made for some great cards. I hope you like them and will get a few more photos of other cards for you tomorrow.

I am a SCRAPAHOLIC

I can announce it from the roof tops. I received an invite to the I am a scrapaholic design team. Let me tell you I am so stinking excited and can't wait to work with the kits Lynn puts together. If you haven't seen them yet you must go take a look. Lots of goodies and several different kits to choose from. The gallery is full of inspiration and the message board is full of things to talk about and the members are awesome.

My "Thinking about you" card that I did last week. Susan told me to enter it into the card contest at Life time Moments. So I did and Thursday I received an e-mail from Jackie telling me I tied for first place. I will be a featured guest designer for either November or December. Can't wait to work with the DT over there.

Tonight is homecoming. Wow where does the time go??? Noah is going to the dance with a bunch of friends. I can't wait to hear about all the fun he had. I have 10 photo shoots today for homecoming. I am totally excited and can't wait to see all the kids dressed up.

Reminisce!!! I love this stuff..

I was at the scrapbook store the other day and picked up a so much Reminisce papers, stickers, rub-ons etc. I don't know what it was but every time my eye caught a piece of paper it was Reminisce. I have been having a blast creating with there products. I decided to check out there site and seen the blog and noticed they were having a DT call and it ends today, but it looks like they already picked winners etc. Not sure if there was a mix up with the date etc, but it says until Oct 10th... Oh well it would of been cool to enter. If you haven't gotten your hands on any of the new Reminisce papers yet you must. The Halloween line is totally cute. The Christmas/Holiday lines are amazing and I just love the boy line. Which is what I used for the football layout of Noah Below. I also used Magistical Memories chipboard (nested stars and big star)

I know a lot of people liked my other Haunted house card (thanks for all the e-mails). I had used the little vampire boy on the first Haunted house card I did. This time instead of paint I used Reminisce papers and sketched out a different house etc., put it all on chipboard to make it pop more. I hope you like it. These are so fun and easy to make.

It's not raining today.

I love October weather when it isn't raining. Living north of Seattle, rain is a weekly event in October and November. So when it doesn't rain I totally take advantage of the gorgeous brisk days.

Last night we went to Noah's football game. They lost, but Noah got in a lot of game time and just hearing the announcer say his name a lot made me so proud. hehe He is growing up so fast, before I know it he will be graduating and going off to college or the military.

While it was hard for me to get in any decent photos last night as the team is always standing and in the way of the GOOD shots. Miguel's mom was there with his little sister whom I have been dying to get some photos of. I have been wanting to scrap some little girl layouts just for fun and well my mom still hasn't sent me any of my niece sooo a friends little girl is better then nothing. Here are a few shots I got of her.

I played in photo shop with the last one. I so can't wait till my photo shop CS3 gets here. It's gonna be so nice.

Ok so remember in my last post I said I was going to do a card a day for the entire month of October. Yup I got my card done for today. I am still playing with Making Memories Halloween paper as it's one of my favorite Halloween lines this year. Also using lace from The embellishment studios October Basic Kit. Totally awesome kits this month.

A couple more cards.

I am having so much fun making cards. Yes you heard me right. I always thought I wasn't a very good card maker. So this month my goal is to try to make 1 card a day. With it being October and it's my favorite holiday I figured it was the perfect time to try to perfect my card making skills. So I figured I would start with a few of my favorite embellishments, Chipboard, paint, ink, stamps and lace. Then take my favorite tools, Scissors and sander and go to town.

The cards below are ones I made yesterday for a few card challenges at Two Spotted Dogs. They have already started celebrating National card making day with lots of challenges and sponsoring a challenge at Cardvarks. So be sure to check them out when you can and who knows you may even win a fab prize.

Both Cards are made with Making Memories Halloween pattern paper and the bottom card also uses there diecut tags.

Cards, Cards and more Cards...

So those of you that know me, know I pretty much stay away from cards. Well my good friend Nathalia has lit a fire under my butt.. She says "anyone who can scrap, can make a card." Well I wanted to prove her wrong, but as it turns out I can make a card or two or maybe even three. lol

This month I am guest designing at Magistical Memories... OH how I love there chipboard. I must have it all. So when I got my package from them I couldn't believe all the stuff I got. I am truly in chipboard heaven. Chipboard is one of my favorite embellishments because it's a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless. Magistical Memories is getting ready to show off there next release so keep an eye out on there site for all there new chipboard and there are a few sneak peeks on there message board and in there gallery.

I am also designing at The Embellishment Studio again this month. The kits are totally rockin, plus there is an amazing contest going on over there this month with an awesome prize so be sure the check it out.

If your looking for an amazing kit be sure to check out 2 Spotted Dogs. Diane can truly put together a kit. They have a great message board and have some great challenges lined up for National card making day this weekend. So if you have time be sure to check them out.

Here are my cards that I have made the past 2 days. All the chipboard is from Magistical Memories, The lace's and stamps are from The Embellishment Studio and the paper, silk flowers and stickers in the top 2 cards are from 2 Spotted Dogs September Card kit.

Nathalia shared with me a card she made and I was immediately inspired to go into my scrap room and get dirty with my paints and made this Halloween card...

Nathalia does some amazing things and you can find some awesome tutorials and great inspiration from her blog (link is on my side bar.) Thanks Nathalia for always pushing me to the next level.

Rock On Shadowbox

Here is the full view of my project for the Typicalifragilistic blog... Be sure to check it out as all the projects and ideas are amazing....

I love all things Transparent and 3D. So why not mix them together to create a piece of art for your home?

I began by altering an old shadow box that I had picked up on clearance. I painted it black, then covered it with a coat of the new Tim Holtz crackle paint (due to be released later this month). Once dry, I daubed my favorite green paint on top resulting in a really cool crackle textured effect.
My ultimate goal was to maintain a transparent art piece so I decided to layer several images together. I began with a piece of Red Grid Hambly for the background of my shadow box. Then I cut out the heart with wings from the "Follow Your Muse" transparency (created by the fabu talented Marah Johnson)and centered it to the back of the grid transparency. The final step was layering the guitar image along with coordinating stickers from Marah Johnson's Rock Star line.

By layering several images onto the glass and transparency you will achieve a rockin' 3D project.

I'm Back.... Sorta..

Well the past month has flew by.... Before school started My 2 little ones and myself went on a road trip to California to visit hubby who is currently deployed there... We had a blast visiting hubby... It was the first time we ever went to visit hubby when he was deployed... We surprised the little guys with a trip to Lego Land... They had a blast and so did hubby and I... It was a great surprise besides all the traffic in LA...

It was a great trip... We got home with a couple days to spare before school started...

I can't wait to get all my pictures developed from both of our road trips and Lego land.. hehe

I however have been really sick... That has been the downfall to our last road trip.... I ended up catching a parasite that is native to the soil down in California where we were at. It has totally took a toll on me and well I hope I start to feel better soon.. Because to be honest with you I would never wish this on my worse enemy.... There is a small silver lining to being sick and not being able to keep anything down.... I have lost so much weight... I lost 12 lbs while in California.. Then since being sick I have lost an additional 22 lbs for a total of 36 lbs so far... So yeah it's great but dealing with what I have been dealing with I'm still not sure if it's worth it. lol

Some great news thought.... I have been asked to join a new blog with a great group of amazing artist's.. It is set to launch on the 15th so stay tuned for that news and link.... I will say if you like great tips and new techniques you are gonna LOVE all the stuff we have in store for you...

I am slowly working on my project and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I am able to get it done in time...

I hope everyone has been while in my month away from blogging and I can't wait to catch up on all of your blogs...

Hugs.

I love a good thunderstorm. We don't get many of them out here... Just rain. hehe So last night as everyone was sound asleep I scrapped, listened to the new Maroon 5 cd along with the rain and thunder. Here is one of my layouts....

Chipboard....Ya just gotta love it and have it all...

Or at least I do.. hehe I have so much that well ya just need a special place to store it all.. Hubby purchased this cabinet for me... I was like hrmmmm well I know I can put my cropper hoppers in the bottom but what to do with the other drawers. So then he opens then and they have all these slots you can put together.... OH YEAH what an amazing place for my chipboard... hehe

OHhhhhhhhhhhhh this is like the drawer that is opened the most... Yes I totally love Magistical Memories chipboard and well I use that the most except for the alphas... They discontinued them so I horde them... So I am hoping that in the near future they will do them again. hehe All the flowers are mixed together. I love mixing and matching them.. There are also some HS ghost shapes and a few other alphas that I use a lot.

I won all these shapes from Deluxe Designs... I totally need to use them more often. I think I used up all the hearts and most of the stars. lol

I have 4 of these in total... They carry all my chipboard by letter and number.. I am in the process of altering them.. I will be sure to post pics of them when I'm done. They will match my desk that I'm altering..

So how do you store your chipboard and what is your favorite chipboard????

Thanks for looking.
