I love mixing the new with the old...

I have been having so much fun going through boxes and unpacking my craft room as I often get side tracked and then I find myself sitting at my table creating a way...  Yes that is why it has been taking me forever to get it unpacked. What better way to get inspired then to open up a box and find all your treasure that have been packed away for months ok a year, but it's been a rough year for me so I'm glad to be getting back into the swing of things and so glad that I feel human again it only took 2 surgeries but I am on the mend and back to getting crafty in my spare time. It really does feel good to be among paper, ink, glitter and glue...  So today I unpacked some My Minds Eye 6x6 pads and at the bottom of the box was a package of ephemera from K & Company...  things like ephemera inspire me so naturally I headed to the table with a few new things and some old paper pads and the ephemera package and pulled some things from my left over bin and got busy creating...  Here is a card I created.

Products used:
My Minds Eye Love Me (banner pattern paper)
Crate Paper Random (black chevron pattern paper)
The Paper Studio (music pattern paper)

Hello Friend and more photos of my craftroom...

Happy Thursday Everyone...  I have been so good in getting into my craftroom this week to get creative.  I even got ready for work yesterday in record time so I could have 20 min in my craftroom before I went to work.  I picked out some papers that were left on my desk from my previous card and those little pearls, then grabbed a roll of twine and my distress ink and got busy... It felt good to create but knowing I left something on my table not finished drove me nuts at work, but when I got home and checked in on everyone I headed up to my room to finish what I started...  With that said here is my finished card...

products used:
Echo Park Beautiful Life 6x6 paper pad
Pebbles Inc Hip Hip Hooray (hello friend)
Digital Image (ticket)
Tim Holtz Ink (brushed corduroy)
Making Memories Pearls
Twine
Kraft Cardstock

Here is a close up...

Here are a few more photos of my craftroom... Still getting it unpacked and things put in the right spots.  It seems like it will take me forever to get it done with working full time I only get to unpack on the weekend. So it's a slow process but it's getting there.

Happily Ever After... Happy, Thrilled and Excited...

Happy Tuesday everyone...  I am Happy, Thrilled and Excited today... Yesterday I was in my craft room creating cards and for some reason I was creating Valentines and Wedding cards. Not sure why. lol... Later that afternoon I called my son to see how he's doing really it was to check up on him.  When you live in 2 different states you worry all the time.. Well he told me he asked his girlfriend to marry him and she said yes.  So maybe that's why I was creating those cards. You know the "Moms intuition". lol  So excited for him and this next chapter in his life and well for me I finally get another girl that can call me mom... lol

A Happy Birthday Card and still unpacking my craft room...

So I spent 12 hours in my craft room yesterday.  Looking at what I did in those 12 hours I'm not sure if I was that productive.  I would of been better if I could make up my mind where I wanted things.  Things started in one place then moved to a different place and ended up in another place.  I think that deciding where things go is what takes up so much time.  In the middle of it all I ended up twisting or pulling something in my back after moving some boxes around.  So I have been really slow moving like turtle slow. lol  So naturally I decided to sit down to rest my back and get in some creative time.  Here is a card that I created...  I really love the colors.

  products used:
The Paper Studio Pattern Papers (pink, blue and floral cream)
K12 Studio Stamps (dress form and happy birthday)

I'm finally back with some fun Stamped Goodie Bags...

Wow I can't believe it's been almost 3 months since my last blog post... A lot has happened since then.  I won't get into all the details but in that time I have unpacked more of my craft room, had 2 surgeries, been working and resting a lot. Now that I feel somewhat normal again I have been in my craft room getting creative...

Today I opened up a box and it was full of my wood block stamps.  So naturally instead of putting them away as I was going through the box I sat down and got crafty with a few stamps and made some fun goodie bags for my co-workers...  I love passing out fun little things to my team at work...

Products used:
Stazon
(Jet Black, Cherry Pink, Olive Green, Black Cherry , Teal Blue, Cactus Green and Pumpkin)
Stamping Up Chicken Wire stamp
All other stamps are studio G wood block from Michaels
K12 Studio Twine

Silk Colored Eggs...

Sorry for being MIA on my blog...  It's been a rough couple of months with moving, being sick and some other things going on, but I promise starting mid April I will be back in full swing!!!

This is a repeat post from April 2009...   Every year I get a couple e-mails from friends asking if I would re-post the following blog post because they can't remember how to make the Silk Wrapped colored eggs....   Enjoy!!!

Today was full of eggs.. I colored a dozen eggs using a silk scarf and the little guys and Miranda made rice crispy treat eggs. lol

Here are some photos of my eggs. I just love the way they turned out.

To make eggs like this here are the things you will need...

raw eggs
Silk (silk ties and scarfs are great to use)
cotton sheet
warm water
vinegar
glass or enamal pan

  1. You will need to cut your silk and cotton down to about 5x5 squares
  2. wrap a raw egg in silk with the silky side on the egg & tie ends with a scrap piece of cotton
  3. wrap you silk wrapped egg in cotton and tie ends with a scrap piece of cotton
  4. continue wrapping till all your eggs are wrapped
  5. place all your eggs in a glass or enamel pan
  6. fill your pan with warm water till it covers all your eggs
  7. add 3 tablespoons of vinegar to your pan
  8. boil your eggs for 20 min
  9. once boiled take them out to cool for a few min and then unwrap
  10. You can rub your eggs with a little cooking oil and then wipe with a paper towel for a shiny looking egg.
Things to remember you need to have SILK to do this and the silk needs to be wrapped with the silky shiny side against the egg.

I hope you like the eggs and if you make these please comment with a link to yours.
