Technique Tuesday...March 31st

woot woot it's Tuesday!!! Time for a new technique... Still playing with Clear Scraps products and Alcohol inks, but this time I added some metallics and some dimensional pearls...

Here is a little sneak peek of a mini album I did using the Clear Scraps Scalloped tag in acrylic and chipboard, but the technique I am sharing today is this clear acrylic decorative frame.

I used the Clear Scraps Acrylic frame, new "Cloudy Blue" alcohol ink from the new "lights" collection, Gold metallic alcohol ink and Gold dimensional pearls. All items are from Ranger.

To get this look continue to read on.

Ink your piece of Acrylic till you have the desired color. I went over it 4 times with the blue ink.

Next shake up your gold metallic alcohol ink and drop a few drops onto your piece of inked acrylic. I wanted a lot of gold so I put several drops on my flower.

Take your felt ink tool and dab the gold ink to spread it around your flower leaving some of the blue to still show through.

Next take your blue ink and drop small drops of ink onto your flower where your blue was showing through so it becomes darker. Let dry

once dry add more blue drops to your blue area on your flower and let dry
(see how the gold has a flaked look)

Here is a close up

Here is another view from a different angle

I wanted my blue just a tad bit darker so I added another drop of blue ink to my blue areas.

Once dry I took the gold dimensional pearls and added some dots and lines to the edge and center of my flower. This step will take about 30 min to dry fully.

Then I took my altered acrylic flower and added it to the center of my card where it can be the center of attention.

I totally love the look of it. It's a bit funky and well if you know me you know that I like the funky kinda stuff...

I hope you like this technique. Not sure what it's called or if anyone else has used it in the past, but I like it. I would love to see what you do with this technique so be sure to link me up.

Hugs and Happy Tuesday to yall...

Monday Monday...

Mondays are always so fun for me. I pack up some of my scrappy supplies and head off to Everett to Crop at Lila's Scrapbooking and more. It's a pot lot crop so lunch is always good. Today I worked on finishing up a mini book for Clear Scraps. Now I just have to take the photos... I wanted to give a shout out to all the gals that crop on Mondays at Lila's... Yall are such a fun group of gals and thanks so much for letting me join in on the fun... hehe

Another thing that happens on Mondays is the new Ad goes up on Ad This. This week it's a round ad. It's cool and you can't go wrong with a circle layout... hehe Here is my take.

Products used:
Moxxie Pattern papers, Rub-ons and Stickers
Jenni Bowling journlaing label
My little shoebox small alpha stickers
Black Pen

The twist this week is "SEWING" rather it be handsewn or done on a machine or even using up some of those fun stitching rub-ons or getting out those stamps that look like stitches... Here is what the ad looks like.

Thanks for looking and hope your having a happy Monday...

Technique Tuesday...

I had a lot of e-mails/pm's when I uploaded my owl album I did for Clear Scraps. Most of the questions were how did I get the tree embellishment to look the way it did...

I promised everyone I would share the technique... so here it is.

Items you will need.

Hambly overlays
Alcohol inks and tool
Clear Scraps Acrylic

Once you have all your supplies you want to start applying your alcohol inks to your acrylic

This next step you want to move quickly... Take the rough side of your Hambly overlay and set it on top of your inked up piece of acrylic

you will notice that the alcohol ink will start to react with the overlay.

With some firm pressure you want to hold onto the overlay and rub like you would a rub-on (do not let your Hambly or Acrylic move)

After about a min you can lift off the Hambly overlay and this is what you will have on your piece of acrylic

Here are a few other examples

Now remember to use the rough side not the smooth side of the Hambly Overlays and be sure to share your projects you did using this technique.

Also feel free to link to this technique...

Hugs

What a day...

Well yesterday Isaiah had a track meet. He is in the 4th grade and all the 4th and 5th graders can be a part of the running club. So yesterday all the elementary schools in our town put on a track meet. LOL IT was FREEZING out the wind was blowing like crazy and we had some snow flurries through it all. LOL I was already nursing a cold and well sitting out there for 2 hours yesterday made it even worse, but the things we do for our kids. hehe IT was fun and we had a blast cheering him on in his 3 events. LOL Here are some photos of the relay team and my little guy doing his thing. lol

Isaiah running the 3rd leg of the relay.
It was so cold that all the kids wore there jackets while running.

Here is the 4 boys relay team before the race. lol

Here they are after the race... We lost one boy to hot coco and a blanket. LOL but they did good and came in 2nd place and won a trophy for their school.

It was a fun day by all but boy am I paying the price. Thank goodness I have me some meds and they are helping. I'm feeling better today but still sound like I have a frog in my throat.

Today we woke up to almost 6 inches of snow. So we are all staying put and staying inside where we are dry and warm. I plan on scrapping the day away.

The Birthday Cake...

Well with hubby being gone and well even if he was home he still wouldn't of made me a homemade cake. LOL My favorite cake is a Black and White angel food cake with a chocolate glaze poured on top. It is a recipe from the most amazing Barefoot Contessa "Ina" .. You can find the recipe on the food network site here. So that was my mission today. To make my own birthday cake. Here are some photos. hehe

This is my mess. LOL

The cake after the glaze was poured on and dripped over the edges. Joshua loves this part as he gets to lick the spatuala after the glaze is poured on. hehe

Here is my piece with some vanilla bean ice cream on the side with a little extra chocolate glaze on top.. mmmm it was soooooooo good.

The recipe for this is super easy to do and well worth it. I hope you will try it sometime.

Happy b-day to me & This weeks ad...

Well today is my day... I am officially 36 today. I feel every bit of it as well. lol I have enough grey hair to last me a life time. This morning my 4 amazing kido's & 2 puppies thought it would be amazing to bust out in song and dance at 6am in my room and on my bed along with tooting on a trumpet. They went all out Cosby style. LOL It was great and my ears are still ringing but I'm still chuckling at little Joshua puckering up and blasting with all his hot air on that trumpet while Lola and Rocky howel along with all the amazing music. You gotta love kids. They even called hubby so he could take part as well. I think the only thing he did was crack up laughing. LOL I plan on having a great day. We are making a run later to Costco for pizza and I am in the process of making my own cake. It's a black and white cake from the amazing Barefoot Contessa. It is the most amazing cake. I will for sure take photos to share. I did want to say thanks for all the e-mails and cards wishing me a Happy Birthday. Yall sure do know how to make a girl feel good. hehe Yall are awesome. Ok so enough of me. LOL

This weeks ad at Ad This is amazing. The twist this week is handmade. You must make your own pattern paper as well as your embellishments. You can use any alphas you like for the title but everything else must be made by you or stamped etc.

Here is my layout. I recycled a piece of 12x12 chipboard and cut out all the shapes on my cricut machine. I inked up some magic mesh and stamped on my cardstock along with a Inkadinkado stamp. Added some Tim Holtz ink and Ranger dimensional pearls. I also used a couple stamps from Unity Stamp company.

Here is this weeks ad... I totally love it.

Thanks for stoping by and have a happy hump day. Hugs
