Sketches...

Sketches are always a great way to help get your inspiration going. You don't have to do the sketch from a to b but take parts here or there or turn it flip it etc. I have seen some amazing layouts come from using a sketch as your base. This week at I am a Scrapaholic Alicia has a totally fun sketch up in the "out behind the camera" series. Along with an amazing theme. You so need to go check it out. Here is my layout that I did with her sketch.

These photos are of my great great grandfather and grandmother and family. My great grandfather is the tuba player. The photos were taken in 1912. The Zahradka family came over from Bohemia in the 1800's. The band would play at special events throughout town and other cities. Music has always been in my family. My mother is an amazing trumpet player and I played the clarinet and saxophone. (I bet yall didn't know that about me.)lol I was pretty good too. Man I need to start playing again. I really do miss that part of music. This summer when visiting my parents my mother took out her trumpet and played it for the kids. They loved it. I can still see Isaiah and Joshua trying to play that thing. It was funny, but they did manage to get out a few notes. Not in tune but they managed to make some noise. I remember trying to play that thing when I was a kid. I always wondered if my mom was a bit sad that I picked to play the clarinet and not the trumpet. I guess that is something to ask her when we talk again later this week. Ok enough of that. hehe Go check out the sketch, scrap it and post it. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Great page...I love the mix of vintage ribbon with the new, and the paint on the cardstock adds an awesome shabby feel. Great work!
